During the selection process for a position as UX Designer, I was asked to explain how I would design a credit card for children.
During the selection process for a position as UX Designer, I was asked to explain how I would design a credit card for children.
In order to explain my understanding of the user-centered design process, I have created a presentation in which I created an ideal product from start to finish.
You can check the full presentation by clicking the image below.
OVERVIEW
Preliminary phase
- Establishing context and basic assumptions about the design problem
Empathize
- Preparing the interview protocol
- Recording the interview with two selected subjects
- Creating two empathy maps based on the interviews
- Performing a comparative analysis with two existing products
- Expert Interview with Fabio Nolasco, Vice President (IT Digital Delivery & Transformation) at AIG
Define
- Gathering of requirements, where I condensed all the research done in the previous stage and laid out the specifications for the Ideation phase
- Definition of the problem statement: Karina, a full-time working mother from Germany, needs a convenient tool to give and track her kids' pocket money so that the child becomes financially smart.
Ideate phase
- Sketching several paper prototypes based on the requirements collected and the Problem Statement
Prototyping phase
- Building two plastic prototypes to compare the vertical and horizontal versions of our favorite paper prototype
Testing phase
- Role play testing with both vertical and horizontal oriented plastic prototypes
